In spite of the fact that many straight men show their interest and feel pleasantly when watching two women ruptured by each other, lesbians don’t appear in commercial ads often. But if they do it’s never unnoticed. First persons to notice it are lesbians itself that instantly pay their attraction to their “spirit sisters” and keep on watching them all the way. 
That’s why we’d been gathering our “Lesbians in ads” collection that we finally want to share with you. Okay, not all the collection but its most interesting items and most famous names. I have to say that we’ve been searching for not something spicy (large-busted in stockings) but for something more or less specific, so those men that got here accidentally can shut their browsers down with annoyance.
It’s plain to see that if an ad tells about “lawyer (medicine, insurance, realty, tourist etc.) service for gays ad lesbians” then everything’s clear about it and presence of gays and lesbians on the ad poster is an expected thing. E.g., one recently opened sexual-minority web site placed its ads not only in the Web but also on the street billboards in the center of London. Here in Russia it’s kind of fantastic to do such things. And not because such images could offend somebody’s aesthetics but just because:
a) there’s nothing to advertise awhile;
b) it’s useless to spend one’s budget on expensive ads like TV or billboards that are targeted on such a narrow audience.
It’s quite another thing if we speak about advertising of wide used brands, goods or services that pictures sex-minorities in both open and disguised ways.
First of all we must define what ad we name a lesbian one else we have to name every picture displaying two women a lesbian picture.
1) The most evident sign of it is to attract to your ad campaign a person that openly decares about his/her homosexuality. E.g., k.d.lang, Elton John, Ru Paul take an active part in different charity actions against AIDS etc.
2) An evident sign of intimacy between two women (kisses, hugs etc.) or showing in traditionally straight situations (family, home affairs, traveling, leisure time). These ads are mostly seen in campaigns of fashion clothes, tobacco or alcohol beverages. People that don’t know too much about homosexual culture don’t even notice the lesbian presence in such ads. Those people agree that “when straight women kiss each other they don’t show passion; when they hug each other they don’t take off each other’s bras; and if they slap each other backs – then they’ve drunk already”. Actually people agree that a single ad is a lesbian one unwillingly.
3) Ad campaigns targeted right on sexual minorities. It sounds strange, but the quantity such ads has been increasing recently – we mean politician ballotings and even giant companies (like VISA or American Express) that offer special services for homosexual couples. Those couples are similar to those offered to straight couples. 

When analyzing ad campaigns we may separate them into some groups:

- outdoor ads;
- ads at shopping locations;
- radio/TV ads;
- newspapers and magazines (printed);
- Internet.

We’d like to consider just two of these groups now – printed and outdoor ads. Comments are placed next to according pictures (click to open).
